Thanksgiving

Posted on November 26, 2009 with 4 comments

I never celebrated Thanksgiving, in fact, I didn't even know what was it about - in my part of the world, we don't have it. All I knew was that Americans would eat turkey - until last night when I read a bit about it.

I thought if I was getting the most fans from the US, outside of Hungary, it would be nice from me to greet them. So what shall I wish you, my friends, on this day?

First of all that you all have a great dinner with your loved ones, family and friends. That you enjoy every bite, every sip, every second of it. You talk, laugh, maybe sing or play, contemplate nice memories you have together.

And that you create plans, dreams, goals so that one or a few Thanksgivings later, those will add to the things you achieved and will be nice memories.

I also learned a new word in English: cornucopia which is a symbol for Thanksgiving, and in its original story in the Greek mythology could be filled with whatever the owner wished - so I wish you to fill your very own horn of plenty with all the wonderful things you dream of.

This I wish not only to my American friends, but to all of you, wherever you are on this planet.

Gary, I wish you a good time; we even have a famous Hungarian poem starting with "How I would like to be rich And eat roasted goose once"...

Dear Andrea:
Thank you so much for your Thanksgiving Wishes for a 50% Romanian American. My day was a little sad as it was the first year in my like that I was not with family for this holiday. I am starting a new business out of Berlin. I ate alone in a restaurant and, the closest thing available was roast goose, a first for me! not bad at all and, being a traditional German dish for this time of the year I will probably eat more.
Thank You Again,
Gary K.
