Saturday evening adventures
Posted on November 23, 2009 with 0 commentsMany of you are asking how did the recording go on Saturday. The recording itself went great! But my trip to Eskilstuna and back...
On the way there, I was happy, because finally it was blue sky and sunshine and I could hardly wait to watch the sunset over the beautiful Swedish countryside! Only my train was delayed with 25 minutes, which meant that I haven't even caught the last rays, the sun goes down already at 3pm these days :-(
Was even worse on the way back, I had a ticket to the 10pm train, but we finished earlier and I could make it to the 8 o'clock train, hurray! Slight problem being that my ticket was not valid for this one (which is just weird, it's a 1-hour ride on a simple regional line, so it's plain bureaucracy), so I either had to buy a new ticket, either get off and wait for the next one, 2 fricky-dicky hours. I don't agree with paying double price for a service, so I got off in Strangnas: small place, small station. They didn't even have an automat, to buy some snacks...
Fortunately I still had a piece of chocolate and tea in my thermos with me - and my mobile phone where I could check the important stuff: emails, my social networks and such, so basically I might say I had a good time.
The worst was that in the first train, a bunch of young boys were listening to Hans Zimmer from a ghetto blaster and that was just sooo perfect. Not so at Strangnas station, where my ears were attacked through 2 hours by a 3-minute loop of commercials advertising the local supermarket, some sort of construction company and the gym... Can you imagine that???
Anyway, in between, it was fun, the recording itself. Why did I have to go to small Eskilstuna from big Stockholm? Because of Joska. He is the leader and double bass player of Barozda, the Hungarian folk band from Transylvania (see our album the Authentic Hungarian Village Music) and he has a studio. It's just great to work with him, his presence and knowledge makes it so easy.
We recorded 2 rounds of the songs and it was such a good feeling to sing for a recording! In a studio, I tend to get a bit nervous and concentrate too much on the technical details, but this time I was flying with the melodies...
Now I am excited to hear them - you too, I hope? :-)
